The Blog

Join me every month while I dive into sessions, show examples of my work in more detail and give advice to other aspiring boudoir photographers on my blog.  What can you hope to achieve reading this blog?

An inside look into creative sessions

Each month I try to experiment with at least one session, these are discounted sessions for clients who are happy to share images and if you'd like to be considered for a creative session please do subscribe for updates. These creative sessions usually create amazingly different photographs unlike most boudoir photographers in the UK and I am always striving for a uniqueness that aligns with my clients personality and individuality.

More in-depth full sessions

I also show more in-depth shoots from parties, cake smashes and engagements among other on location and studio portrait sessions for those wishing to see a more in depth look at how their shoots may look and what I can achieve.

Studio Boundaries

The blog is also where you may wish to read my studio boundaries for Boudoir sessions, these boundaries differ from studio to studio and I want to be upfront about these before you enquire incase you are looking to create images with a partner or video footage etc.

Some tips and tricks I've picked up

I love everything about photography, I definitely identify as a bit of a photography nerd! As I buy new kit and experiment I hope to pass on some of the lessons I learn to other photography nerds!

What is a family photoshoot?

Put simply, a family photoshoot is a session booked with the sole intention of capturing a family or extended family.

This can be anything from an extremely formal session in a studio to a relaxed outdoor session.

Why do people book a family shoot?

Family photoshoots might be a celebratory moment, a birthday or a big life change like a move or a milestone moment like kids going to school or it might simply be an opportunity to get some photos for your walls.

Family is so important to children and it has been studied time again that seeing images of their family in their home helps them to feel grounded, part of the unit and more loved.

Where shall I do my family photoshoot?

There are a few options here but for me personally as a photographer I think getting outside is important for children, space to run play and jump allows for the creation of emotion, connection and memories that all play a part in a successful family photoshoot.

What not to do for family photos!

Don't spend too long fussing over smiles! The right photographer will extract the emotion from the shoot and I often find children look happier than parents when parents start to panic about the perfect shot.

Breathe and trust that creating memories and a happy environment for your children will help to ensure fantastic photos.

What to wear to a family photoshoot?

The most asked question when anyone books a shoot! While it is personal and flexible for most families the big rule here is not to clash with either each other or your surroundings. For example if you're booking a shoot in a forest the best colours would be oranges, browns, reds and generally awkward colours would be blues and pinks.

Weather appropriate clothing is important. Both for your comfort and for the feel of a photo. It'll make much more sense if you are wearing a coat in winter.

Pinterest is always my go to for inspiration, look at what other families are wearing and ask your photographer if you have any worries or questions.
