The Blog

Join me every month while I dive into sessions, show examples of my work in more detail and give advice to other aspiring boudoir photographers on my blog.  What can you hope to achieve reading this blog?

An inside look into creative sessions

Each month I try to experiment with at least one session, these are discounted sessions for clients who are happy to share images and if you'd like to be considered for a creative session please do subscribe for updates. These creative sessions usually create amazingly different photographs unlike most boudoir photographers in the UK and I am always striving for a uniqueness that aligns with my clients personality and individuality.

More in-depth full sessions

I also show more in-depth shoots from parties, cake smashes and engagements among other on location and studio portrait sessions for those wishing to see a more in depth look at how their shoots may look and what I can achieve.

Studio Boundaries

The blog is also where you may wish to read my studio boundaries for Boudoir sessions, these boundaries differ from studio to studio and I want to be upfront about these before you enquire incase you are looking to create images with a partner or video footage etc.

Some tips and tricks I've picked up

I love everything about photography, I definitely identify as a bit of a photography nerd! As I buy new kit and experiment I hope to pass on some of the lessons I learn to other photography nerds!

Professional headshots tailored to you.

Updated: Jun 5, 2023

Not all headshots are created equal, some require a sharp, tailored edge, professional and bold. Some should be friendly, soft and welcoming, sometimes even a mixture! My services all start with a questionnaire so I can understand what your headshot needs to be.

Headshots Styles

  1. Far left is Jessica, she's in a corporate job and she was looking for a new work profile picture and something for linked in that told the world who she is. She described herself as feminine and loves her smile so it was important that we portrayed both her as a woman and as business woman

  2. Next we have Zoe, Zoe is an actress and she was looking to approach new agencies with a selection of new professional headshots that showed versatility. Collar bones were a must and a range of expressions were necessary a sense of who she was naturally was important as she didn't want to show up to auditions looking different!

  3. Graham is a self employed consultant looking to build a new website and make a name for himself. For Graham a sense of experience, professionalism, precision but also he wanted to look approachable so a good genuine smile was needed.

  4. Liz Lockie is a professional photographer looking to strengthen her personal branding. Her images needed to match her brand aesthetic and portray her warm inviting personality

Backgrounds:

See how this shot of Graham seamlessly blends into the white of the background? This is a deliberate choice to fit with his clean white website and branding colours meaning he could extend images easily. But, not everyone needs such a high key background.

Using the exact same white backdrop roll Jessica's white is still white but more subdued and less crisp.

Colours

Branding colours green, blue, orange? Whatever colour you want I can help, white and cream are very popular as is black occasionally such as in Zoe's portfolio shot here:

I use a mixture of material, paper and card backdrops depending on the topic and location, my travelling headshot service comes into your office and this is a white backdrop with options for head & shoulder in various other colours of your choosing.

Editing

Not only do I take questionnaire answers and consultations I also always check that editing is going as you are expecting with a sneak peak and confirmation. My edits are generally true to life colours- that means I won't make your hair blue or your skin green unless you ask me to, I won't give you a tan unless you ask me to.

I'll listen to your insecurities and help you pose to see yourself as beautiful as you are. I'll edit anything that wouldn't be there in two weeks- scratches, spots, blemishes, under eye circles etc will likely be removed in your first edit. I will enhance eye colours, whiten teeth very slightly, add highlights and shadows but I won't actually change the structure of your face.

Retouching beyond my edits is possible and I charge additionally for it so if you do really want a bigger nose or a slimmer neck, I can physically make it happen. And although I do think everyone is beautiful as they are I won't judge if this is what you want.
